  • Natural Disasters

The frequency of extreme weather events and natural disasters such as floods, fires, storms and tropical cyclones appears to be on the increase.

Though little can be done to prevent natural disasters like bushfires and floods from occurring, it is possible to minimise the risks. Having emergency plans in place makes it easier for your organisation to ensure the safety of people, minimise losses, maintain business continuity and get back to delivering services and achieving its mission sooner. It also clearly demonstrates a duty of care to workers, contractors, volunteers, students and parishioners.

Natural disasters can generate a variety of risks depending on the scale and severity of the event. It is important to understand key factors including the type of conditions likely to lead to a bushfire or flood, how they behave, the potential impact on your people, property and processes and the chance that a bushfire or flood will impact on you.
